Girl (no longer) On Demand
It's been covered elsewhere, but Girl On Demand, the anonymous bloggist who focused on Print-on-Demand books, is hanging up her hat. Two years ago, when she started the blog, most people thought POD was something from a bad SF movie. 1600 books later(!), she proved that a few POD writers could tell a story.
I'm not surprised that she's quiting. I've done enough reviewing and hanging out at POD sites to know that, as outlined in my taxonomy, most self-published stuff is just bad. And unfortunately, the worse the writing, the more adamant the button-hooking. But while she was blogging, she did a service to POD writers everywhere, by pointing out that "POD" doesn't have to be a synonym for "bad."
