Remember Bowe Bergdahl?
Dec. 13th, 2011 03:29 pmIf you don't, don't feel bad - I forgot about him too. Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl is an American soldier captured in 2009 by the Taliban. They've released five videos of him, but apparently only the first one, way back in 2009, was considered newsworthy by the US media.
But don't worry, the British Daily Mail remembers him, and reports that he tried to escape and was recaptured after 3 days. They are quoting Taliban sources, so accuracy is always an issue, but that's more news about the poor guy than I've seen from any US source.
I've seen a lot more news from US sources about, say, Kim Kardashian's ass and Lindsay Lohan's personal soap opera than I have seen about Bergdahl. There are times I agree with Jerry Pournelle when he talks about the West's "weapons of mass distraction."
