Friday Thoughts, A Link Salad

Well, Rand Simberg thinks allowing Rahm Emanuel on the ballot means the fix is in. I thought about trying to explain the ruling to him, but since several of his more like-minded commenters beat me to it I demurred. Also, since Rand thinks being a Democrat makes one ineligible to be elected dog catcher, let alone a higher office, I decided to not waste my time.

So, let's have some link salad:

1) I mentioned that my sister was working on getting homeless veterans off of the streets - well, her efforts made the news again.

2) Today is the 25th anniversary of the loss with all hands of the Space Shuttle Challenger.

3) In a more positive note, I mentioned a while back that a Rotary committee I was on had sent a shipment of medical supplies to Zambia. Well, the slow boat finally arrived.

4) In yet another sign that the auto industry bailout was a good idea, General Motors withdraws loan application. They now have the $14 billion in cash they need to upgrade manufacturing operations without government help.

5) Finally, from [livejournal.com profile] jaylake, yet another step to biofuels - Could Cows Make Biofuels Better?
