Controversial Links And Pictures

Rotary today, and back from a 2-day vacation, so I'm trying to get un-buried. However, here are a few links I found that I may come back to for more discussion.

Health Care: From the Denver Post, an article debunking Canadian health care myths. A quick quote on the idea that Canadian taxes are too high: "At the end of the day, the average after-tax income of Canadian workers is equal to about 82 percent of their gross pay. In the U.S., that average is 81.9 percent."

Global Warming: Artic sea ice is declining. For example, see here, source of this graph (courtesy of the University of Illinois):

If you don't like that source, see NASA's take on the matter.

And the first comment on that article states "Socialized anything is b-a-d." Many people in the US seem to be totally ignorant of what socialism is. At best they can conjure up some Kafkesque version of Leninism to criticize. Of course it's bad - but its not socialism.

Thank you, thank you for linking to that health care article. I quickly become infuriated hearing US media frequently repeating things about our health care system that simply aren't true, and this was refreshing indeed.
