1883
Over the past week I spend a lot of time with my parents. They are big TV watchers, and for a variety of reasons we ended up watching a couple of episodes of the series 1883. Damn is it good!
1883 is a prequel to the modern western TV series Yellowstone. Set in (surprise) 1883, it's the story of how the fictional Dutton family ended up with the titular Yellowstone ranch in Montana. In many ways it's a traditional western, but in key ways it's not.
First, the show has a fairly diverse cast, and second the Indians are not being painted as bad guys. So far (I'm about 8 episodes in) all the villains are white. Also, even the lead characters are not morally black-and-white. Overall, highly recommended.
