Links and Comments, a Salad

1) I've got a new review up on POD People. It's the very interesting book about a WWII American POW, ALLIES FOREVER: The Life and Times of An American POW.

2) An oldie but a goodie (and one I think I've posted before), I give you The Mall Ninja!

3) Eugene Robinson in the Washington Post wrote a very accurate article on recent political violence. His basic point was that yes, we have had eras of left-wing political violence. (We've actually had eras of both-wing violence, like when the Klan and the SLA were both active.) However, the current threat is right-wing.

4) From John Scalzi, a fascinating article about a company that repossesses large commercial jets. You know, 747s and the like.

One imagines that the Mars Run universe has a guy like this, repo-ing spaceships.

Probably. So much to write, so little time...

While Robinson is correct to point out that there is no equivalence between far right and far left violence these days, I don't think there ever was a period where left wing violence in the US was the larger issue. Even the radical groups of the sixties were not as active or as deadly as the reaction to civil rights, an ancestor to the tea party movements. The US has never had a terribly active radical left, even if it usually got most of the witch hunt press.

The current threat is right-wing

Or so we're told to believe, anyway.

How the Left fakes the hate: A primer (http://michellemalkin.com/2010/03/26/how-the-left-fakes-the-hate-a-primer/)

Personally, I like the guy who claimed that right-wing hate criminals threw a rock through his office window… on the 30th floor.

I replied, Hey, it's possible (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trebuchet).

So the guy who crashed his plane into an IRS building, the Hatari militia in Michigan, the guy in Georgia urging Tea Partiers to smash windows, and the guy who shot up the Holocaust Museum in DC are all fakes or liberals?
