Public Speaking
Oct. 16th, 2006 07:26 pmI gave a speech to the Downer's Grove Rotary club today regarding writing and my book The Mars Run. It was a bit of a flop, I think. I was nervous and uncomfortable.
It's not that the Rotary Club was a tough audience. I'm just not very comfortable talking about myself. Rotary or work - no problem. Me - big problem. Always has been. I don't want to self-psychoanalyze, but I think sometimes I expect too much from myself. I don't think anybody in that room wrote a book, but I was worried that I was "good enough" to talk about it.
I volunteered to do the same thing at Windycon, so I shall simply have to get over it.
