Westville Lost
Nov. 24th, 2006 03:03 pmAs I mentioned here, my hometown team is in the state football finals for class 2A (the second smallest.) Unfortunately, they lost to Maroa - Forsyth, 22 to 42.
I attended the game along with about 2,000 other folks from Westville. The state football championships are played at the University of Illinois, about 30 miles from Westville.
It's a shame the Westville Tigers lost. The Maroa team was bigger, and their quarterback is outstanding. He should be - he's attending Eastern Illinois University (a 1A college) on an athletic scholarship next year. The game was a lot closer then the score reflects - for three quarters it was nearly even, but at the end of the third, the size and speed of Maroa became too much for the Westville heart.
At any rate, I'm glad I got to see them play.
