General Comments

The left-leaning blogs are going all five flavors of batshit over the Scooter Libby commutation. See Making Light's post for an example. Don't get me wrong - I think Bush's actions were wrong and clearly politically motivated. Scooter should do his time, but Bush and/or Cheney are obviously worried that he'll spill additional beans. I just don't think it's worth all the hoopla. Libby wasn't the person that blew Plame's cover. Just like Clinton's impeachment, the underlying crime (lying) was tangential to the real issue (blown cover or sexual harassment), and the actual lies were tangential to the main "cover-up" about the issue. Both cases were pretty much small beer, trumped up.

My neighbor on Sunday night decided to hold an impromptu fireworks display - at 11:15 PM! I was just falling to sleep when I got jarred awake. Needless to say, I didn't get back to sleep for a while, yielding a grumpy Monday. He's usually a good guy, but every once in a while he does something screwy.

Tonight I will be attending the first meeting of the Naperville-Area Science Fiction Writers' Group. No website as of yet - just a Yahoo group, and this is the organizational meeting. It's my first in-face writing group.
