Tuesday Hash
Aug. 14th, 2007 10:08 amSorry I didn't post Monday - the day (my first at work for a week) got away from me. At any rate, here's the weekend recap, for those that care. The parents went home Saturday AM, and I did domestic stuff around the house.
The Chicago Tribune (link may be subscription-based) reports that there is a rash of itch mite bites (pun intended) in the Chicago area. I got zapped twice by the little buggers. You don't feel it at the time, but a day or so later you get a big rash at the bite site. All one can really do is slather on the anti-itch cream and deal with it.
I mentioned in an earlier post that Comcast's pay-per-view was helping with my parental entertainment needs. Well, Friday night we ordered Smokin' Aces, which was supposedly an action movie. For reasons known only to the head idiot in charge of Smokin' Aces, they spent the entire first hour in exposition - introducing us to a bewildering crew of misfits, cops and hit men, none of whom I for one cared to meet. So, we switched to network TV's Without a Trace.
Mike Ditka, Chicago-area sport legend, opened a new iteration of his restaurant very close to me in Oak Brook. The parents and I went there Friday (pre-movie). It's a very nice place, with a surprisingly broad menu of seafood, pizza and steaks. I had the pork chop, which was nice, Dad had ribs and Mom had fish. They also had dessert "minis;" shotglasses filled with Key Lime pie or chocolate mousse. That's just the right size for a dessert after a big meal. Lastly, Da Coach himself was there, and Mom got a menu autographed by the man. She promptly called home to let people know about it.
So now you're all caught up, as I go back to the salt mines :-)
