I mentioned that this was a busy weekend. Since one of my weekend activities had me standing on a street corner in Hinsdale at 8:00 today, (more later) I am up and decided to blog.

I mentioned Thursday that I'm on programming for Windycon. Well, Jason Robertson, who's on two of the panels, tracked me down. He blogs as [livejournal.com profile] pyropyga and is busy making a Battlestar Galactica costume (as a Major). He says he's tracked down Rich Horton, and is still working on Rachel Karp.

So, what did I do this weekend? Well, Friday night I attended the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre production of Cymbeline. Now, the thing about subscribing to a theater series is you tend to go to every play. And the thing about a Shakespeare troupe is that you can't just keep doing Hamlet every year. Cymbeline is one of Shakespeare's late romances, and is really a tragi-comedy. It relies on one of The Bard's oldest tricks, girls pretending to be boys. Back in the day, when women's roles were played by boys, it worked better then it does now. Still, it was an interesting and well-performed play.

Last night one of my Rotary buddies had an open house to celebrate his wedding anniversary, which was nice. This morning's outing was Rotary Run for Wellness House a fundraiser for the Hinsdale-area Wellness House. I was a volunteer, handling traffic duty at the corner of Monroe and North in Hinsdale. I got to exercise my inner traffic cop for about a half an hour.

It's raining in Chicago, and I am thinking strongly about catching a matinee of Elizabeth: The Golden Age. I'm a sucker for historical epics (part of why I write SF, I think) and this looks like an interesting movie.
