Happy New Year
Jan. 2nd, 2008 11:21 amI hope you enjoyed your New Year's Eve celebrations, whatever they may have been. I'm not one for new year's resolutions, but here's a few pseudo-resolutions for your amusement:
1) Improve my love life - already took some steps on this via e-Harmony. I'll let you know how this goes.
2) Make sure I take one "real" vacation a year, where "real" is defined as "actually go someplace other then my parent's house or sit at home." Also taking action on this.
3) Manage my time such that I write on a regular basis.
I'd like to discuss #3 in a bit more detail. I have two novels in process (Taken to Mars and Space Rescue, a sequel to The Mars Run) and one concept I dreamed up literally yesterday. ("Those Who Hide, Survive," a post-apocalyptic tale.) I also have several short stories that have been bounced around (read "rejected") a bit.
I've decided that I will take hardcopies of the shorts with me to Mexico, and use some poolside time to look at them, since the laptop is staying in Chicago. But if I'm going to make any progress on the novels, waiting for the mood to strike to write is not going to cut it. Therefore, I must schedule some time. And in the theory that writing it down is a way to force action, well, I just wrote it down. Watch this space for updates.
