Feb. 24th, 2008 03:37 pmI attended the New Philharmonic performance Friday at the College of Dupage, our local community college. It was an interesting performance. The first piece was Sensemaya, an orchestral work written by the Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas. He took a poem, "Sensemaya," about killing a snake, ans set the poem to music. Actually quite good, although in 11/16 time it's tough to play. They also did two piano concertos, La Valse by Ravel and Rachmaninoff's 3rd.
Saturday, I did a pay-per-view screening of Michael Clayton. It's an interesting action / suspense movie, and well worth the viewing. I hear from the Internets that it probably won't pick up an Oscar (not artsy enough) which is a shame.
Lastly, I wrote.
