Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head...
Jul. 9th, 2008 08:34 amSo, Cherie Priest (
cmpriest) is having issues at her apartment. Alas, home ownership is no bed of roses either.
It rained last night in Chicago, and since my umbrella is AWOL, I got a brief spritzing. Unfortunately, the spritzing occurred inside my house. You see, I have a flat roof on my house. Now, roofs are not actually waterproof. They are water resistant, and work on the principle of "get the water off the roof before it gets a chance to find a seam."
This is always more problematic for flat roofs, and moving the water usually requires roof drains. Well, if the drain backs up, the water will get under the roof layer and run along the underdeck to the nearest seam. Since the roof drain is in a corner of the master bedroom, this means my master bedroom is the first place to get wet.
I guess it's a good thing I let my parents get a new queen-sized bed for the guest bedroom ;-). No rain in the forecast until Friday - hopefully I can get this fixed by then.
