As you may have heard, we got walloped with a snow storm yesterday. Three to six inches, which isn't that bad, but landing right at rush hour on top of ice from Sunday yielded a traffic mess. Fortunately, I was attending my Rotary club's Christmas party, and had a short drive from the bank's Darien location to the party. By the time I was heading home (9:30ish) the snow had stopped and rush hour was over. The roads were still snow-packed, but with light traffic it wasn't too bad.
In other news, I'm reading Kate Atkinson's latest book, When Will There Be Good News?
. It's the third "Jackson Brody" mystery, and quite entertaining.
Atkinson was born and raised in England but lives in Scotland, and, as a very observant writer, she is able to tease out all sorts of cultural differences between the two regions. She's also very good at taking two or three plots and mixing them up into one, yielding an interesting story. However, I wish she'd write faster - it takes her two years to write a book!
