The Paranoid Style in American Politics
Jul. 22nd, 2009 09:02 amI found (or re-found) a very interesting article today, entitled "The Paranoid Style in American Politics." The article rightly attacks both the left and right wing wierdos, but this quote caught my attention:
The basic elements of contemporary right-wing thought can be reduced to three: First, there has been the now-familiar sustained conspiracy ... reaching its climax in Roosevelt’s New Deal, to undermine free capitalism, to bring the economy under the direction of the federal government, and to pave the way for socialism or communism.
The kicker? The article was written in 1964.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.
