Vacation Plan
Aug. 20th, 2009 04:06 pmSo, I feel the need for a vacation. After mid-September, work should calm down enough so that I can slip out of town for a few days. The question is where to go? Consider this me thinking aloud.
I've never been to the Grand Canyon, and I'd like to go, but questions abound. For example - how many days to visit? I mean, riding or hiking down to the bottom doesn't strike me as that much fun. I want to see it, yes, but that's about it. So, how much time to allocate? Also, it seems like the canyon is a 4 or 5 hour drive from any airport, so what else to do / schedule?
I'm leaning towards flying in to Vegas for a couple of days, then doing the canyon for a day or so, and flying back. One of my Rotarians, Chris Reilly, is frequently in Phoenix (he's from their and now retired) so possibly I could swing by his place on a leg of the trip.
