Random Thoughts On A Sunday

So, my "take a walk every day, lard-butt!" program took me to visit two open houses in my neighborhood today. They were literally on the same block, and the exact same floor design. The one with a $20,000 higher asking price was the one with a redone kitchen. I am definitely going to have to upgrade the kitchen if I ever hope to sell the place. My handyman crew was in, and they are working up a bid for me, with a view to doing the work in January.

In other news, I showed my yet-untitled Space Opera to the writing group Tuesday. One of the comments was "the first named character is a lead character." Well, in Chapter 1, the first named character was not a lead character. This was a problem because Chapter 3 takes place immediately after Chapter 1 and in the same location. A quick re-write fixed that problem, and allowed me to bang out Chapter 3. The group thinks my aliens in Chapter 2 are too funny (as in, McHale's Navy funny) but that doesn't keep me from doing Chapter 4 (or maybe a later chapter - haven't decided) in their point-of-view.
