I found time to write this weekend. The wordcount below is a bit deceptive, in that I deleted almost a chapter of redundant stuff that had been cluttering up the count. In terms of new, good and usable words, I'm probably more like double what the count says. Not only that, but some of the plot hurdles discussed in this post have resolved themselves.

In other writing news, my Dad has been after me to write a contemporary mystery novel. Mind you, he's not going to write it - I am - but he's going to provide "moral support." Now, he does have a point - mysteries have a broader audience than science fiction. And I have had some interest in doing that. At any rate, the idea hatched a plot and some characters, so I've started working on it. My plan right now is to alternate between the two stories, and see what gets done first.
