Travel and Volcanoes
Apr. 20th, 2010 09:16 amI'm not sure if it's a goat grope or a Charlie Foxtrot, but I've been watching with interest the travel disruptions resulting from the Typewriter Spasm Eyjafjallajokull volcano. Now, I fully understand the desire not to see airplanes falling out of the sky with dead engines, but the last time Ole Eya blew her top, it went on for a year. In short, something's gotta give, and it probably ain't gonna be the volcano.
Today's news brings word that the Europeans seem to be finally getting their stuff in one sock, and have a plan to get planes moving again. I'm glad to hear that, although I suspect it will be a plan in flux. I also suspect that videoconferencing firms will be seeing a lot more business in the near future.
Speaking of volcanoes, the always-interesting Making Light pointed me to 35 spectacular pictures of the volcano in full color.
God willing and we don't buy a bank, I'm going to Las Vegas for a 3-day vacation tomorrow. I am taking the laptop in case of business emergencies, but posting may be light around here. Or maybe not - either way, you've been warned.
