I Can See Clearly Now...
May. 17th, 2011 09:40 amI picked up my new bifocals yesterday at lunch. I have to say that I am amazed at how bad my near vision had gotten. For example (and an embarrassing one at that) my watch has a small window on the face that displays the date. Well, after getting my new glasses, I could actually read the date, and realized that it was off by two days!
Now, I'm used to some weird visual effects when I get a new prescription, but this pair did produce something new. It only happens when I'm outside and have a long visual horizon, but in those situations I feel physically shorter - like somebody shrunk me down. I think it's an artifact of the ground (seen in the bottom of my glasses) being magnified. We'll see how long that effect persists.
Getting old is not for sissies.
