Power came back on at my bank's headquarters late yesterday afternoon, so we're back on normal operations. I am attending two off-site meetings this afternoon, so here's a few random thoughts in lieu of a considered post:

A) I watched the President's speech about Afghanistan. Seems reasonable to me, which means both the political extremes found something to dislike. Especially irritating from the Right is the "the President doesn't say 'win' in his war speeches" meme. Please define what 'winning' looks like in Afghanistan.

B) Quoted much more for its humor value than content: For all his reckless courage, this brown paper bag has overmanned him.

C) The "OMG no sunzpotz meanz Ice Age 11!!!11!" you've been hearing? Well, not so much.

D) Apropos to item C, there was a brief statement to the effect of "the Little Ice Age was confined to Europe." Which got me thinking - China, Japan and Korea both had well-developed civilizations and snowy regions. One would assume that if they were seeing abnormally cold weather, it would be in the historical record. So, where is it?
