Vacation Pictures, Part 1 - Lassen
Oct. 11th, 2011 09:30 amYesterday was a bank holiday, and I decided to celebrate it by taking a holiday from my computer as well. Yeah, I know - hard partying at Chez Gerrib. For today's entertainment, have some pictures from my recent Western vacation.

In 1915, Mount Lassen blew it's top just like Mount St. Helen did in the 1980s. This is the "Devastated Area from the 1915 eruption.

This rock was blown from the inside of the mountain, 10 miles away, during the eruption. It was still red-hot when the locals found it a week later.

One of the hot springs at Lassen. It looked and smelled like somebody was boiling raw sewage.
Tomorrow, Crater Lake, and Thursday, Redwoods. Wine from Oregon's Illinois River on Friday.
