The Hunger Games
Jul. 31st, 2012 09:49 amSo, having seen the movie, and in an act of self-defense from the fannish hordes, I purchased all three volumes of The Hunger Games and finished reading volume 1 last night. I have to say my first thought was how closely the movie followed the book, while at the same time expanding from the confines of a tight first-person narrative.
My second thought was what a great read The Hunger Games is. I read it in about three hours, and found it a real page-turner. Katniss proved to be a much more interesting character than what I had seen, although that's largely because she's built up a thick shell prior to the Games. I am quite looking forward to the next two books in the series.
