Weekend Golf
Oct. 1st, 2012 10:26 amOver the weekend, I attended the annual fundraiser golf outing sponsored by the Chicagoland Lithuanians Rotary Club. Held at Old Oaks Country Club in Homer Glen, a beautiful course, the weather was perfect and the company enjoyable. The outing filled the course, rare indeed for a nine-hole event.
However, most of the golfers weren't, well, golfers. Many of the foursomes headed out to the course with one or two sets of clubs, and people golfing in street shoes. I'm no Tiger Woods, but if you're a golfer having an outing with people who never played before can be challenging. This was aggravated by a registration snafu which had the course scrambling. Fortunately, I managed to get our foursome off of our hole first, and we played through another group, thus having a pleasant round.
My foursome didn't stay for dinner, but I did, and managed to get blanked out on the raffles. So, my money all ended up going for the cause. Still, it was a nice event.
