National Novel Writing Month
Feb. 4th, 2013 09:04 amI have never been a particular fan of National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo). For those of you not in the know, this is an organization that tries to get people to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. To put it bluntly, puking 50,000 words onto paper in a month didn't seem the most productive thing to do.
Then I looked at the current work-in-progress. As of Friday, I had 33,000 words written in Pamela's Ghost. In short, for the month of January I got two/thirds of the way through the output of NaNoWriMo! And here's the hell of it - I didn't write every day, and I didn't feel rushed!
Now, in this case, I also had a clear idea of what I wanted to say, so there was very little staring at a white screen trying to come up with ideas. So, I guess I'll have to stop bashing NaNoWriMo. ;-)
