I am attending DucKon 22, a local science fiction convention, on June 28-30. My tentative schedule arrived in my inbox the day I left for ConQuest, so I haven't acted on it until now. Herewith is the official schedule.

Friday (June 28)

5:00 P.M. Opposition in All Things (Ravinia B)
Chris Gerrib (M), Brian Pinkerton, Tom Huber, Laura Dombrowski, Joy Ward
A good story depends upon conflict. Clashing does not necessarily pit good versus bad, but sometimes is nothing more than an irritation that surfaces. However, these disturbances can be just that, even to the reader. Where does this element become important in character and plot development? Is there a point where it is too much or where there are too many factors involved?

6:00 P.M. Building Your World Just Right (Ravinia B)
Steven H Silver (M), Kathryn Sullivan, Chris Gerrib, E. Michael Blake, Cliff Johns
Yes, it is possible to overbuild your genre’s universe. How do I stop adding on, and then continue telling my story? What literal elements need to be included or be safely ignored? Furthermore, what aspects will qualify me in Urban or Epic Fantasy, hard or soft SF, or Horror?

10:00 P.M. Erotic Fiction or Cheap Trashy Porn? (Duck After Dark) (Ravinia B)
Louisa Feimster (M), John Everson, Chris Gerrib, Brice Beutin, Pam Steinkillner, Pen Skzynski, Virginia Massetti
With the popularity of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey and Sylvia Day’s Bared To You, more erotic fiction seems to be flying off the shelves or e-readers, because the demand has increased exponentially among today’s readers. Why has erotica become so viral in every day households? Panelists will discuss the recent trend of “Mommy Porn” versus examples of traditional, well received, quality erotic literature.

Saturday (June 29)

2:00 P.M. Busting The Wall (Ravinia B)
Chris Gerrib (M), Laura Dombrowski, Natalie Silk
That formidable block! Call it author’s mental constipation but many professional and beginning writers experience it at least once in a lifetime. How do you crack the obstruction? How do you recover the flow of ideas to finish that story on time? Will your readers notice if you got “help” (a ghost writer) to conclude that book?

4:00 P.M. Self-Publishing Pros and Cons (Ravinia A)
John Everson (M), Chris Gerrib, Natalie Silk, Joy Ward
You see it more and more; writers who are skipping over the normal routes of publishing and taking the processing of their books in their own hands. Our panelists will discuss the pros and cons of being your own TOR/Baen and how it is done.

Sunday (June 30)

12:00 P.M. Writer’s Showcase (Ravinia F Main Stage)
Brian Pinkerton, Chris Gerrib, Patrick O’Connor, Joy Ward, David Benton, W.D. Gagliani
See and hear our fantastic Duckon authors market a few of their recent or upcoming books for purchase today! This will certainly be a one stop shopping, learning and listening experience. Please check our schedule for the writers you want to see, and support them by buying their literature!

A one hour autographing session will follow at the autographing tables.
