A few writing updates:
1) Monday's post on Tom Kratman's The Amazon Legion drew commentary from the author himself. (I think we gossiped a bit at a con, but otherwise I don't follow him.) The discussion was interesting. I do need to correct a mis-statement: I labeled Kratman a libertarian, which he says he's not.
2) Last night I attended my first meeting of a new writer's group in downtown Geneva. We met in the basement of a local bar, and I showed the group Chapter 1 of Pamela's Ghost. (BTW, still looking for alpha readers on that.) Comments were useful, including one "duh" comment - "why don't the human abductees ask why they're being abducted?" Well, the short answer is "because the author knows why!" As this is not quite satisfactory, changes will be made.
3) I submitted The Night Watch, sequel to Pirates of Mars, to a different publisher. She had not read the previous work, and so found the protagonist unsympathetic. Valid comment, and one which I have recently come up with a way to fix.
