May. 27th, 2014 09:46 amI have returned from ConQuest and a 5-day break to a desk full of papers. Regular blogging will resume soon, with thoughts on KC BBQ (Jack Stacks) and the con itself.
In the meantime, I'd like to associate myself with this article about the current VA "scandal." Like the author, the real scandal is that Congress has chronically underfunded the VA for decades. They are doing the best they can with what they have, and under Shinseki, the VA has gotten better.
But better isn't always good, and so we have the problems of secret wait lists. These are real problems, unlike Benghazi, but Congress has been reluctant to deal with them - in part because Congress is part of the problem. The other part is that VA spending isn't glamorous, and lobbyists for the VA don't take Congressmen out for steak dinners. So, we are shocked, shocked I tell you to hear there's gambling at Rick's.
