I Don't Believe In The End of the World
Mar. 18th, 2015 10:32 amYesterday was consumed by locusts, and today's not looking much better. Our Taste of Route 66 fundraiser is coming up, so I've been working on preps for that. (BTW, visit the site - you can bid right now!)
In any event, to provide some content, have this item which I find very persuasive - Why I Am Not A Doomsday Prepper. Money quote: Killing off a whopping 90% of the population would take us back to 1860, the year that Abraham Lincoln was elected as the 16th president of the United States. I also saw the movie Lincoln, and it, too, did not look like The Walking Dead.
ETA: It's not like there wouldn't be huge disruptions getting from "now" to "now less 90% of us." There would be. But getting from "90% less" to a reasonably peaceable new normal at roughly our current level of technology would happen fairly quickly. I think we're talking a year or two on the outside.
