Various thoughts from my recently-concluded trip to Washington State:

1) Boeing Aviation Museum: On the site of one of the original Boeing plants, and right next to an active Boeing factory (they were working on P-8 Poseidons, it's well worth a trip. The B-17 is interesting, as is the Concorde. They have one of the original Air Force One 707s. What struck me is how small the plane was.

Also of interest is that they have the Shuttle interior trainer, used to train all Shuttle astronauts. The inside is very tiny indeed.

2) The EMP Museum which has the Sci-Fi Museum in the basement. It was kind of neat, mostly for the (extra money charged) Star Wars costume exhibit. They also had a nice exhibit on guitar design.

3) The Duck tour of Seattle: Ducks are WWII amphibious buses, and a Seattle-based company has a bunch they use for tours. It's an amusing 90 minutes or so. You get some decent views of the city and their famous houseboats. Well worth it.

In a follow-up post, Seattle microbreweries and food, Yakima's wine country, Mt. Rainier, and Spokane.
