Weekend Entertainment Update
Jul. 11th, 2022 11:05 amI didn't have a lot going on this weekend, so I consumed some entertainment. Herewith is my report.
The Princess
This is the new Hulu movie which they have been advertising with vigor. I found it quite enjoyable. It's set in an undefined Medieval era with an architecturally-improbable castle. If you find yourself thinking about said castle for more than a moment, you've come to the wrong movie. This is a straight-up slash-and-stab with WWE wrestling moves thrown in. Just watch the pretty pictures and smile, dude.
Time Travel in SPAAACCCEEE
Both of my current televised Space Operas, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and The Orville had time travel episodes this week. The Orville did an emotional episode, sending Gordon, the resident fan of the 21st Century, back to that time, then rescuing him. Nicely done but the effort to hit the reset button for the next episode was a bit obvious.
Star Trek was more subtle, basically replaying one of the better episodes of TOS, Balance of Terror, with Pike and Kirk instead of just Kirk. Also nicely-done.
