As you may have heard, a solar eclipse will be visible in southern and central Illinois on Monday April 8th. The path of totality runs through Paris Illinois, about 30 miles south of my parent's house in Westville. I'm told hotels in Paris have doubled or tripled their rates and are sold out or nearly so.
Fortunately, the Hotel Gerrib has a room for me (free, even, with breakfast included!) so I plan to head down there and use that as a base. Westville will be 99% total so it will get dark but I'll be further south.
