I had not planned to watch last night's Presidential debate. I find these events uninformative at best, irritating at worse. However, a previously-scheduled event was moved specifically because of the debate so I watched it. As one commentator said of Trump's performance at the debate, normally one has to pay to be so thoroughly dominated.

Harris got all of her policy points in. Now, in a debate with a 2-minute clock, all one can say about a policy proposal is the 3-sentence elevator pitch, but she got those pitches in, while giving Trump some shiny object to go chase after. Watching him argue and defend incoherently was actually worthwhile.

Regarding facts, Harris is spending her time getting fact-checked on specifics of policy proposals while Trump is getting fact-checked on whether it's legal to execute babies (spoiler: it's not) and whether Haitian immigrants are eating pets in Ohio. (They're not - the rumor was started by an honest-to-God Nazi who showed up at a City Council meeting to complain. He didn't file a police report because filing a false report is a crime.) This is not a winning look for Trump.

As pointed out elsewhere, last night was Trump at his best. We should be worried about whether or not his people let him have the car keys, not whether he'll be sitting in the Oval Office come January.
