Every time I see that I think "You're being too modest; you're barking mad. What you're really not, is geniuses."
Freer can actually write decent fiction. His expositional writing is scattered to heck an gone, very verbose and full of obvious errors of logic and fact, but his fiction is not. Maybe a different portion of the brain kicks in, or something.
Of course, for best Fan Writer, we're not considering his fiction.
I know *I'm* going to have a hard time choosing who wins that hard-fought sixth place. Freer is certainly in the running.
