I'm on vacation this week, and truthfully not doing much of anything. It's called "me time."

However, I did bestir myself to look at my short story inventory and make sure every short I had that was publishable was sitting on some acquiring editor's desk. Here's what's out and where:

A Frog in Hot Water murder on a very lonely asteroid mine. Sitting on a desk at Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show since September 20.

Mongoose and Cobra a military SF shoot-em-up, which is tough to place. It just went up on Baen's Bar in the Universe Slush for comment.

Fun Until... pirates in space, based on events in The Mars Run. Emailed to Apex Digest today.

My next project is to take the comments from the Windycon Writer's Workshop and re-work my short story "Flare." Maybe tomorrow.

It's called "me time."

I'm manfully resisting the obvious jokes.

And reading 'Cobra and Mongoose' - they appear to have changed Baen's Bar since I was last there.

The obvious question after the first page is .. what does 'position of attention' look like in zero-gee? Would a rational Navy have 'zero-g position of attention' and 'standard gravity position of attention' in the 'how-to' book?

Don't bother resisting the jokes - I try not to take myself too seriously.

I have no idea what the "position of attention" is in zero gee. All I know is that Petty Officer Kim was a boot recruit 6 months ago and got bumped up 'cause half the fleet's either dead or in a POW camp.
