For those of you who are wondering about the title of this post, I should say that El Kabong is a coat rack I own, and Bear Stearn is a table lamp that is also not long for this world. Since this is a graphic-intensive post, I'll put the bulk of it below an LJ cut.

So, I purchased a coat rack about two years ago. A cheap coat rack, made of flimsy aluminum. I put it in my front room, right by the door, and fairly close to a glass-table-equipped floor lamp. Here are the items in question.

It turned out that there was a problem with the coat rack. Call it a design flaw. The top of the rack had four arms, but the bottom only had three legs. (I guess somebody saved maybe 50 cents in manufacturing costs).

Here's a graphic representation of the problem.

Well, one day last week the inevitable happened - El Kabong crashed into Bear Stern. So now I get to buy two items this weekend.
