Earth Hour
Mar. 27th, 2008 01:29 pmSo, I hear that the World Wildlife Fund is sponsoring Earth Hour, which is a global campaign to get everybody to turn the lights out for one hour this Saturday. The stated goal is to "raise awareness" of global warming.
Hello, McFly!! Is there anybody in the Free World who is not "aware" of global warming? What rock could you be living under to have not heard of the issue?
"Awareness" or "understanding" is not the problem. People are "aware" of global warming. People "understand" that scientists believe that global warming is caused by man. But understanding something doesn't mean you agree with something. I can understand that a five-year-old wants a cookie before dinner. Doesn't mean that I agree that he needs one or that I will give him one.
Sorry, I'm not into useless feel-good exercises. I'll be the guy with the lights (CFL bulbs, ThankYouVeryMuch) on this Saturday.
