One of the reasons I took my pledge to pay for political posts was that a lot of things political in recent days have truly pissed me off. I was hoping that penalizing myself would reduce my temper. Alas, not working, and today brings another example of that. It's the reason why I'd vote for Bozo The Clown vs. a Republican for President.

The Bush Administration has decided that if they don't open the email, it didn't happen. Now, I get that they don't want to regulate CO2 output. That's a reasonable policy debate. But not opening the #(@$ email? That's kindergarten stuff. For an amusing take on this, see John Scalzi's post.

In other news, Megan McArdle asks is Islamic terrorism poses an existential threat to the US. I tend to agree with her conclusions (no, Islamic terrorism is not an existential threat) but that's sort of the wrong question. The right question, which I am working up some thoughts about, is "how do we win the fight against Islamic terrorism?"
