So I went home for lunch today. (The ability to do so is the only thing I'm going to miss when I sell this place.) I pulled into the driveway, hit the remote, and the door came up maybe two inches and stopped. I tried a couple of times, but still no joy, so I parked in the driveway and went in via the front door.

Inside the garage, the door opener was smoking, so I unplugged it, and tried to manually open the door with the release. I couldn't budge it. Then I looked up. The torsion spring is busted. So now I get to spend cash on a spring and a door opener. (The opener was acting up anyway, so that's not so bad.)

At least it broke with my car outside, and the weather is supposed to be reasonably dry and temperate.

We just had one of our springs replaced a couple of months ago....car inside, but we have two cars, so not as bad as it sounds. Good luck on getting it fixed quickly!
