The Missing
Sep. 18th, 2006 11:38 amThe Missing is a 2003 western by Ron Howard. Cate Blanchett plays a western doctor / mom who's daughter is kidnapped by Indians for nefarious purposes.
I watched the TV version of it last night. It's a good flick, but then I like westerns in general. I think the attraction of westerns is seeing ordinary people having to deal with extraordinary problems on their own. The sheriff's usually not much help, and the Army, well, they are always a long way off.
My science fiction writing is similar. The Mars Run is a girl on her own in space. Not some "chosen one" but just a girl.
