National Delurk Week
Jan. 12th, 2007 04:13 pmApparently this week is National Delurk Week. This means that people who read but don't comment on blogs (AKA "lurkers") are supposed to post a comment. I get this information courtesy of John Scalzi, who's running a "delurk for a dime" contest.
Being a generous sort, and in need of shiny new content, I'm running my own delurk contest. For every person who 1) hasn't commented on my blog in the last 90 days and 2) posts a comment by 5:00 PM CST Sunday, January 14, I will donate $1 to The Libri Foundation, up to a total of $100. For those who aren't familiar with The Libri Foundation, it's a charity which provides matching grants to rural libraries for book purchases. The grants run around $500 - $1500, and in many cases constitute half the library's annual procurement budget.
So, if you read but don't comment, please drop by to say hi. If you're not an LJ type, please leave your name in the comment. I'm not going to audit IP addresses or check up on when you last posted, so please be on your honor. For those who do comment regularly (hi, Mom!) feel free to say something and / or head out to The Libri Foundation to give.
