Weekend car-blogging
Apr. 21st, 2007 03:17 pmAs reported elsewhere in this blog, I recently bought a Saturn Vue Hybrid SUV. I really like it, and have been pleasantly surprised by it's performance, ride and all-around suitability for my needs.
However, I do have one gripe. I don't like the power window controls. Unlike every other vehicle I've ever owned, the window controls are not on the driver's side door. Rather, there are four buttons, one per window, grouped on each side of the gearshift in the center console. Undoubtedly this is a sign of high design, and probably reflects some reduced manufacturing costs. However:
1) I'm left handed. Reaching for the window controls with my right hand is not instinctive.
2) It's non-standard.
3) You can't operate the two front windows at once, even with giant hands. Since I like to open both for good ventilation, this is a pain.
There you have it - the only thing I don't like about the Saturn Vue. Since I'm keeping it, I'll get used to it.
