I attended the West Suburban Chamber of Commerce and Industry golf outing yesterday. We simply couldn't have had better weather. It was a nice time, although my golf foursome seems to have watched Borat a few too many times.

Today I performed my last official act as President of the Rotary Club of Darien. On the last Tuesday of the month, we have lunch at a local nursing home, and provide entertainment. Usually we pay somebody on the nursing home circuit to come out, but today we played "Rotary bingo." It's basically "reverse bingo" - you stand up, and if you have a bingo number that's called, you sit down. The last person standing wins, and gets a cash prize of $10. It's fairly quick, and once we get the residents up to speed on the game, they seem to enjoy it.

I have to admit going to the nursing home is very depressing. Most of the folks there are only about half with it mentally, and this particular nursing home is loosing more residents then they're gaining. Having said all of that, sometimes one has to do stuff that aren't fun. It's that whole "Service Above Self" thing.
