Friday Thoughts
Aug. 27th, 2010 09:38 amMy apologies for yesterday's radio silence. After my epic on space colonization, I guess I was blogged out for a bit.
That and I was enjoying a bit of a break weather-wise. A cool front moved through Tuesday night, knocking our temperatures down into the mid-70s with low humidity. It was so nice that I ate lunch outside Wednesday and Thursday. I would have preferred to have been on the golf course, but that wasn't in the cards.
In other news, Jackie Powers completed her read of my novel Pirates of Mars and gave me her final comments last night. Since I've been fixing things as she points them out, I'm about half-way through the final edit. Go me!
So as to provide some actual content as opposed to cat-vaccuming, here's a cool link: Earth and the Moon as seen from Mercury. They are clearly double planets, one bright and one dim.
If you were to look at the Earth from Mars, you'd see something very similar. I've often thought that, if there were ancient Martians around to look up at the Earth, they might have seen the blue Earth as their God of War, and seen our Moon as the Earth's "hidden" bodyguard, or maybe an assassin lurking in the shadows.
