Pirates, Part 87
Sep. 2nd, 2010 04:14 pmI'm on vacation today, which means I haven't been heavily on the Internet. But I did drop by the always-interesting site Information Dissemination, a group blog focusing on things Naval. There I found a link to an article announcing that the Egyptian government was seizing guns from ships transiting the Suez Canal. The reason the vessels are carrying guns in the first place is to protect themselves from piracy off of Somalia. Although the guns are returned once the ship clears Suez, this rigmarole adds a day to the transit. And in the shipping business, time is money.
Tomorrow I'm heading south to Westville for Labor Day festivities, so blogging will probably be light.
