Proper Preparation
Oct. 30th, 2010 11:30 amI'm downstate today, partially for my sister's 40th birthday, and partially because my Dad's PC got infected with a virus.
Dad called me Thursday about his machine, and a remoted in. After dinking about for a bit, I decided that it would be better to be on site than fix remotely. Dad's a good guy, but talking him through safe-mode reboots did not sound like fun.
As it happened, I could have done it remotely. I installed Malwarebytes and it did all the heavy lifting, no safe mode required. Of course, if I wasn't there, it wouldn't have worked well.
Proper Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Execution.
