Yesterday, my mother sent me an email asking what I thought about the contents at a link. The link, titled "end of america 2011" (no, I'm not re-linking it) led to a site that immediately started playing a video. Not wanting to watch the video, I decided to figure out who was putting it on.

It turns out that the video, all 77(!) minutes of it, is the work of one Porter Stansberry. The first thing you need to know about Stansberry is that the SEC recently fined him $1.5 million for securities fraud. The guy could make change for a nine-dollar bill with threes (bonus points for you if you know what movie that's from) and if he tells you anything more controversial than the sun rises in the east and sets in the west, double-check him.

So, according to this guy, if you actually watch all 77(!) minutes of Stansberry's magnum opus, you get:

1) A triple dose of fear-mongering, scare tactics and "must act now" hype.
2) Advice to buy gold. (Stansberry knows a good company to work with.)
3) Advice to buy silver (see #2)
4) Advice to stash your cash overseas - Stansberry will sell you a tip sheet on where and how.
5) A special offer to buy his $100/issue newsletter at the low-low price of $50/issue.

Hey, guys, those SEC fines don't pay themselves!
