Jul. 11th, 2011 02:31 pm...But not your own facts. Republicans, including at least one reader of this site, are upset about "the Obama administration banning incandescent light bulbs," something "no other country is doing." Sorry, Charlie, but this is simply and factually wrong.
1) The bill, the Energy and Independence Security Act of 2007 (emphasis mine) was signed by President Bush, and passed the House by a vote of 314 to 100.
2) Incandescent light bulbs are not banned. The law requires that all bulbs have a specified energy efficiency. Several companies, including Phillips, now make such bulbs. In fact, a simple Google search turns up all sorts of options.
3) Actually, a number of countries are phasing out incandescent bulbs.
It's hard to have an intelligent conversation when one side is simply making "facts" up out of whole cloth.
