Golf outing this afternoon, on one of the hottest days of the year, so have some links in lieu of content. Since it's Rotary and writer's workshop tomorrow, you'll probably get another helping then. Sorry - you get what you pay for!

1) Steven Silver has a special issue of his fanzine Argentus out, commemorating the first Neptunian anniversary of the planet's discovery.

2) Renewable power is not just for breakfast: A report produced on behalf of Bloomberg says that investments in renewable energy have gone up by roughly a third over the last year, to $211 billion. Led by China's renewable push, the world is now on a trajectory that will see its investments in renewable electricity surpass those in fossil fuels within a year or two. As a result of these investments, the US is now producing more renewable energy than nuclear power.

3) A bit late, but yet another reminder that, in Ye Goode Olde Dayes, union-busting was done by busting open the heads of union members.

4) For some reason LiveJournal is not letting me embed videos, but Tobias Buckell has a funny one about Somalia.
